The Bay Area of California remains the highest paying geographic area in the United States, according to a new study of the high-tech industry conducted by Culpepper and Associates. The recently completed annual
assessment of high-tech wages by location, identifies the areas with the highest and lowest prevailing wages.

The next highest areas, New York City and Boston, fall significantly below the pay levels of the Bay Area. Texas Metro and Southern California round out the top five highest paying areas. Texas Metro includes the cities of Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Houston.

On the other end of the spectrum, we find the lowest wages paid in the "Midwest/Central/Southwest Other" area. The "Midwest/Central/Southwest Other" area includes most of the center of the U.S. but excludes major cities such as Chicago, Denver, and Austin.
