$20 Billion Growth Factors Market to Expand in Size and Scope

The next five years will be a period of growth and change in the $20 billion market for growth factor based therapeutics, according to a new study released today by Kalorama Information. In addition to revenue growth in all sectors, the emergence of new products for a diverse range of new indications will take the total growth factors market past $30 billion by 2007.

New York, (PRWEB) September 19, 2003 - The next five years will be a period of growth and change in the $20 billion market for growth factor based therapeutics, according to a new study released today by Kalorama Information. In addition to revenue growth in all sectors, the emergence of new products for a diverse range of new indications will take the total growth factors market past $30 billion by 2007.

The new study, Growth Factors: Indications, Products, and Markets, examines the established indications such as blood growth factors in adjunctive cancer therapy and emerging areas such as potential neurotherapeutic applications. The study reveals that the established markets, such as cancer-related anemia, will continue to be the most lucrative in the next few years, but the competition in will increase in these areas significantly.

"The real story in the growth factors market is not the introduction of new cancer adjuncts from Amgen," notes Steven Heffner, Acquisitions Editor for Kalorama Information. "Its the sheer number of diverse indications these therapeutics are being studied for in clinical trials. Any one of these has the potential to change the way difficult conditions such as Alzheimers or diabetic neuropathy are treated."

The study analyzes the world market through 2007 for blood and tissue growth hormones, including erythropoietins, colony stimulating factors, interferons, interleukins, wound growth factors, and neurotrophic growth factors. Current competitive market share is given for established markets and estimated market share projections are for emerging product categories. Regional geographic breakdowns, epidemiology for the various conditions, and profiles of the various manufacturers round out the study.
