FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANN ARBOR, MI (PRWEB) September 17, 2003-- The possible threat of the Earths Moon being hijacked and held for ransom is told in a fictional format. Nonetheless the potential future vulnerability of the Earths only satellite is very real. With little ability to respond the worlds governments would be helpless to stop such a threat. The Earth would suffer catastrophic consequences if the Moon was destroyed or severely damaged by terrorist activity.

The concept does not seem so far out as it did even five years ago.

With recent efforts by some of our newest titans of industry investing heavily in private space travel, the concept of rockets being hijacked and used for nefarious purposes is no longer science fiction," Says the author Walt Crosby. The Earths Moon has been the forgotten frontier. Since the last Apollo missions the Moon has taken a back seat to other space programs, notably Mars and deep space missions. The Moon is now coming back into the forefront of consideration for additional visits that include colonization, mineral recovery or exploration.

It does not take much thought to realize the consequences of an Earth without the moon. Every facet of natures function from weather, cataclysmic seismic activity, and huge oceanic disruptions would occur without our nearest neighbor.

Even more disturbing would be the inability for todays governments to respond to an emergency involving a rogue moon mission. No current spacecraft or program would allow a quick enough response to diffuse the situation. This is a basic and critical premise of the novels plot paralleling our current space program capabilities.

Fortunately this is still considered fiction and not historical. Crosby would like to see stay that way.

Moon Jack is an action thriller that combines the realization of private space flight and the new world escalation of potential terrorist acts" Says Mr. Crosby. The idea that the Moon is safe from these actions is similar to past thoughts that we were safe from terrorism on United States soil."

Walt Crosby is a recent cancer survivor who began his writing career after spending 18 years in the technology industry. With a life long interest in space and astronomy Mr. Crosby has developed a knack for blending active storytelling with compelling scenarios.
