Free Wireless Internet Services Welcome Back Cal Poly Students
Just in time for the Week of Welcome at Cal Poly, the Metro Cafe in the Downtown Centre of San Luis Obispo, the Pismo Boardwalk Mall in Pismo Beach, and the Flying Dutchman Restaurant and Galleria in Morro Bay offer Free Wireless Internet Access.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (PRWEB) September 19, 2003 -- Wireless Internet Hot Spots are HAUTE!
Students returning to Cal Poly this year have some exciting new services available to them, including pervasive wireless Internet access, which for a short time will be free.
HauteSpot Networks, the premiere WLAN service provider on the Central Coast, is providing free wireless Internet access to all patrons of three local dining and entertainment establishments.
Using state of the art, standards compliant, radio networking equipment and design standards, HauteSpot Networks provides coverage over most of the Downtown Centre, all along the Embarcadero of Morro Bay, and all over the beach and pier in Pismo Beach. Visitors to these areas can surf the Web from any of the restaurants or shops in the area, but the best locations for surfing are the base locations at the Metro Café, the Pismo Boardwalk Mall, and the Flying Dutchman Restaurant and Galleria.
During the period from September 15 to October 5, HauteSpot Networks is offering unlimited free wireless Internet access at these locations. Customers can access the Internet using a wireless connection from their laptop computer or PDA. All the hardware they need is a wireless network adapter card (HauteSpot Networks sells long range 802.11a/b/g network adapter cards on their web site). Once they establish a radio connection, they simply open up their web browser, create a user account for themselves and select the free access plan option.
After the free access period, customers can subscribe on an hourly, daily or monthly subscription basis and can pay through a variety of methods, including credit card or with prepaid cards available for sale at the Metro Café, Pismo Boardwalk Mall, and Flying Dutchman. Rates are $2.99 per hour, $5.99 per day, or $29.99 per month. Roaming users from other affiliate networks such as Boingo, GRIC and iPASS can also use the HauteSpots Network.
Students now have some options about where they decide to do their homework," said Christian Sales, sales manager for HauteSpot Networks. Instead of going to the library or the UU, students can work from our locations. You can actually tell your parents you are working on your homework at the beach!"
Wireless Internet analysts are predicting that the current $2 billion WI-FI industry will expand at a compounded growth rate of 30 percent to nearly a $6 billion industry. This would put WI-FI wireless Internet access on par with household name brands like Budweiser, and in line with growth in the mobile PC industry.
