U2 fans make a tangible difference in the lives of over 7700 Africans.

The African Well Fund is thrilled to announce that it has provided funding for two well building projects in Africa. The funding has been generously donated primarily by U2 fans from around the world. Sixteen wells will be built in two African nations. When completed, these wells will serve the needs of over 7700 African people.

(PRWEB) September 20, 2003 --The African Well Fund has received word from its partner organization Africare that fourteen wells are currently under construction in the Ntungamo District of Uganda. These wells are being funded by the tremendously successful Build a Well for Bonos Birthday" fundraising drive which raised over $10,000 during the month of April. An additional project is being funded by a generous donation from Kite Publishing Netherlands. Kite Publishing has donated the profits from their book Elevate Me Here" to the African Well Fund. Africare has notified us that the donation will be used to fund a water project in Ethiopia. More information on this project can be found at

The African Well Fund was formed by a group of U2 fans with the intention to focus on one achievable goal: providing access to clean water for the people of Africa. As of July 2003, the well fund has raised over $17,000 towards this goal. 100% of proceeds from the African Well Fund are donated to Africares well building projects in Uganda and Ethiopia.
