BARIX INTRODUCES STAND-ALONE, NETWORK-BASED HOME AUDIO DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM; WHOLE-HOUSE AUDIO STARTS AT $149 PER ZONE

New devices from Barix offer an affordable whole-house, multi-source audio distribution solution starting at $149. Instreamer converts audio from any device into MP3 streams for distribution over the home network, while Exstreamer streams MP3 Libraries from a MAC or PC to any stereo in the home.

Naperville, Ill., September 22, 2003 -- Barix (www.barix.com) today introduced its stand-alone, network-based home audio distribution system. Starting at $149 per zone, users may create affordable whole-house, multi-source audio distribution systems using their existing home entertainment set-ups and an Ethernet or wireless network connection.

Send MP3 Libraries From the PC to Any Stereo in the Home with Exstreamer.

The MAC- and PC-compatible Exstreamer ($149 MSRP) and Exstreamer Wireless ($249 MSRP) allow users to stream MP3 libraries from the PC to stereos throughout the home via Ethernet or wireless network. Playlists and controls can be accessed from anywhere on the network via any standard web browser (using a PC, PDA or web pad) and/or an optional infrared (IR) remote control.

Barixs newly introduced Exstreamer Digital ($295 MSRP) is stuffed with additional features. The device is perfect for multi-room, multi-device distributed audio applications, due to its audio synchronization and built-in IR capabilities, and features optical and digital audio outputs in addition to the analog output at line level. A remote control is also included.

Convert Audio From Any Source Into MP3 Streams with Instreamer.

Barixs Instreamer ($395 MSRP) converts analog and digital audio from sources such as tuners, CD/DVD players, cassette tapes, and minidiscs, among others, into MP3 streams, which can then be distributed throughout the home via the network.

The device is easily controlled via any web browser or optional IR remote control. Further, by attaching an optional transmitter, IR-enabled devices can be remote controlled via the network, enabling users to change stations on a tuner or select songs on a CD from any room in the home.

With built-in web servers, all Barix devices can be used stand-alone but are also easily integrated with third-party home automation systems.
