ENCHANTING TURKEY Festival and Bazaar Welcomes all at McLean, VA, Oct 4

Local Turkish restaurants and caterers will serve up a feast fit for a sultan at the McLean Community Centers (VIRGINIA) fall cultural festival, Enchanting Turkey, Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Center.

ENCHANTING TURKEY Festival and Bazaar Welcomes all at McLean, VA, Oct 4

McLean, VA September 23 2003-- Local Turkish restaurants and caterers will serve up a feast fit for a sultan at the McLean Community Centers fall cultural festival, Enchanting Turkey, Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Center. Tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for children ages 3-9. The Center is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Sponsored by the Center in cooperation with the American Turkish Association of Washington DC (www.atadc.org), Key Tours (www.keytours.com) Expert Hali Carpet (www.experthali.com) and the American Legion, McLean Post 270, Enchanting Turkey will feature delicious Turkish cuisine along with American festival favorites.

McLeans Kazan Restaurant will offer doner kebab sandwiches, stuffed green peppers, vegetable and meat musakka, lamb shanks with rice pilaf, borek (pastry filled with cheese and meat), Turkish tabouli salad, hummus, and a variety of Turkish desserts and beverages. Nizams Restaurant of Vienna will serve their versions of doner kebab, stuffed green peppers, and tabouli, along with baba ganoush, chicken in puff pastry and orange baklava. Some Turkish nonprofit organizations will offer homemade Turkish delights for sale, such as stuffed grape leaves, gozleme (filo dough filled with spinach and feta cheese or potato), kofte (Turkish hamburger), ayrun (yogurt drink) and chicken shish kebab. In addition, vendors will have a variety of Turkish food items, including olive oil, beer and wine for sale at the festival.

Traditional American festival fare can be purchased from festival favorites Tommy Ts and Brads Concessions. The two vendors will sell funnel cakes, smoothies, frozen lemonade, nachos, hotdogs, cotton candy, ice cream, pretzels, popcorn and sno-cones.
