World Printmakers Tops Search Statistics, Eleven Search-Engine Aces for Fine-Art-Print Site

World Printmakers, the contemporary fine-art print site with worldwide converage, has achieved the top ranking in its sector, "printmakers," on 11 out of 15 most important search engines.

The World Printmakers original fine-art-print site has announced that they have achieved undisputed first place in their sector in the search engine sweepstakes. A survey carried out earlier this month across fourteen principal search engines revealed that, for printmakers," their principal search term, the World Printmakers website comes out on top in eleven of them, including Google, Yahoo, All the Web, MSN Search, Netscape and six more. In the remaining three the World Printmakers site ranks second, third and fourth, respectively.

This may or may not be a record for search engine placement," says World Printmakers founder and publisher, Mike Booth, but its certainly reassuring news for us, our artists and our customers, not to mention our sales figures."

Created four years ago for the love of art, and besides my helpmate, muse and partner is a printmaker..." says Booth, the World Printmakers site soon picked up a wide following and evolved into a fulltime online business. Today the site has a threefold role in the virtual universe of contemporary fine-art prints. It is printmaking specialist magazine and online gallery, as well as a resource center for print artists and collectors from all over the world. Based in Granada, Spain, the site covers the contemporary printmaking scene worldwide, and was recently featured on the BBCs Click Online" computer and Internet television program.

We currently feature work by printmakers from more than 30 countries," says Booth, expatriate American journalist and editor in Spain since the early seventies, and the site is accessed from more than one hundred. We give equal treatment to printmakers and printmaking news no matter which side of the Atlantic-or the Pacific-they originate from. And the World Printmakers site accords the same consideration to digital artists that it does to the creators of traditional hand-pulled etchings, screen prints or lithographs. "

He adds, Were not quite sure what we have done to deserve these terrific ratings. We do not have an aggressive search engine promotion plan, and we have never paid for placement. In fact, the last time we submitted the World Printmakers site to a search engine was a couple of years ago. Having said that, the site does have an important public-service component, with many resources both for print artists and for collectors of affordable art, and it is updated monthly. I wonder if quality and authenticity might not be factors, as well. In an online market where so many reprographic posters and giclee reproductions are passed off as fine-art prints," World Printmakers adheres to a strict policy of original prints only.
