Dont get caught on your mobile while driving
London, UK -- The new legislation banning the use of handheld communication in cars comes into effect on 1st December 2003. But what does this law mean for the millions of us who use our mobile phones whilst driving and what exactly is or isnt allowed?
LONDON UK (PRWEB) September 25, 2003 --Talksafe has set up to specifically to address these concerns, helping people understand what this means for them and more importantly, how to stay safe if you must talk whilst driving. Recent research shows that millions of people will be caught off guard, especially those who continue to think that using their hands free wired headset is fine. It isnt! The new law is quite specific in what is and isnt allowed so being informed is absolutely essential to stay on the right side of the law.
Informing, educating and guiding both the general public, small and large businesses about this new law is our main objective", explains
Narinder Sandhu, Managing Partner at Talksafe. He continues, Hands free and wireless technology is very much at the forefront of our strategy and we bring to attention a wide range of products from manufacturers around the world to help people understand that they can use certain products to help them stay legal when talking and driving, but our added emphasis is on safety, not just simply staying legal".
The new law will mean a minimum fine of 30 for those caught using their handheld phones when driving and fines go up to 1,000 if the case goes to court. To emphasise the seriousness of this regulation, the Government highlights its definition of driving to include a stationary
vehicle whilst the engine is on. So dont get caught out at the traffic lights or traffic jams.
Talksafe promotes its impartiality by endorsing only high quality products from both well and little known product manufacturers. Mr Sandhu adds there are many aspects which need to be taken into consideration when selecting a product which complies with these tough new regulations and our criteria looks at how technology can aid the driver to confidently keep them talking and driving. Whilst we encourage people not to use their mobile phones whilst driving, we realise that it is unrealistic to expect millions of people to simply stop using their mobile phones overnight".
To address this issue, we are working with a large number of companies in many industries to help bring their solutions to the masses and act
as a vehicle for people to equip themselves with both knowledge and equipment to stay legal and safe. We are gaining the attention of millions of people and we invite manufacturers of Bluetooth and other wireless and hands free equipment to present their products to not only
a UK audience, but an increasingly global audience where over 35 countries now ban the use of handheld phones while driving. Companies in the retail, insurance, banking, car and product manufacturing industries are all invited to get involved. Our aim is to develop a single 'mark or brand in the world to help the general public and businesses understand that products endorsed and recommended by Talksafe promote legal and safe use in cars and at the work place".
