Magic Opening for Harry Potter Fan Project --- FanLib(TM) Group Storytelling Technology Sees Popular Debut

NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) September 25, 2003 -- Since launching earlier this month, Harry Potter fans worldwide have been flocking to an ambitious, new online event in which they collaborate on an original script based on the adventures of the young wizard. "The Potter Project" contest, featured at SnitchSeeker.com (www.snitchseeker.com), a popular online community of Potter fans, has already garnered over 2,000 players who have contributed more than 3,500 scenes and comments.

This first-of-its kind event uses a new, patent-pending technology called FanLib to let thousands of fans collectively and democratically create an original story, one part at a time, by submitting and voting on scenes. It is the signature product of My2Centences(TM) LLC (www.my2c.com), an entertainment development, production and management company based in New York.

Each week, fans are invited to submit a scene based on that week's "Mission." The Mission is a brief outline posted by the moderator that describes what should happen in the fan-written scene. Players vote on the submitted scenes until, at the end of the week, a single scene is elected and added to the script in progress. Then, a new Mission is posted and the process repeated until the story reaches "The End."

Weekly winners in "The Potter Project" receive school-style scarves and magic wands courtesy of Alivan's, Master Wandmakers (www.alivans.com), a favorite wizarding emporium. At the end of the event, when the script is complete, one Grand Prize winner, selected at random from among the weekly winners, will receive "A Chamber of Secrets" shooting script signed by J.K. Rowling, Daniel Radcliffe and several other cast members. A second Grand Prize winner selected at random from among all the players will receive a first edition copy of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" signed by J.K. Rowling.

Two years in development, FanLib uses the internet to let a mass audience create original scripts around their favorite or entirely new entertainment properties. FanLib takes its cue from "fan fiction," or, "fanfic," a spontaneous movement on the internet, in which members of a devoted audience become authors. "It's 'American Idol' for scripted material," says Chris Williams, founder and CEO of My2C. "The fan-fiction phenomenon cries out to be harnessed by a mass distributor of entertainment as an audience-participation promotional tool."

"FanLib is a Harry Potter fan's dream," says SnitchSeeker.com owner/designer Richard Harris. "This amazing program is enabling us to create a wonderful, democratic 'chain fanfic' in which Potter fans worldwide can participate."

"The Potter Project" is currently underway and runs through October 31, 2003.
