INTERNET DATING SITES STRIP DOWN
FOR QUICK COURTSHIPS!
Ninety percent of the features on most dating sites just get in the way of the site's stated goal: bringing single people together as quickly as possible.
Internet dating sites are thinning their features, making love online quick and simple. After years of packing in extras to stuff in members, dating sites are now turning the clock back. They're stripping down to the basics to get singles signing in, matching up and going out as quickly as possible.
"Ninety percent of the features on most dating sites just get in the way of the site's stated goal: bringing single people together as quickly as possible," says Dean Shanson, DatingNow's singles expert. When we began thinking about setting up a new kind of dating site, we deliberately looked for ways to move users as quickly as possible from sign-up to first date."
The result is that while many sites request page after page of personal information, covering everything from career choice to favorite breakfast cereal, new sites like DatingNow allow users to log on and receive search results with just a short, one page profile.
That may seem to go against the recent trend but, says Shanson, the site's stripped down set-up has struck a chord with online singles.
"At first, we just ask them for the basics: where theyre from, what theyre looking for, and how old they are," he explains Shanson. Weve found that users love the fact that they dont have to fill in a huge questionnaire before they can start looking for love."
Users can then go back later, post their picture and fill in as many personal details as they like.
Although DatingNow was only launched in September 2003, the site has already seen hundreds of singles sign up and start online dating.
And the "missing" information? That just leaves the new couple topics to talk about on the first date...
