TRAVELLERS WEBSITE SUPPORTS BACKPACKERS CHARITY FOR SAFETY ABROAD

PlanetReunited.com have just announced that their chosen charity is Carolines Rainbow Foundation. Marjorie Stuttle, her son Richard and partner David have established Caroline's Rainbow Foundation, a charity formed after the tragic death of her daughter Caroline last year in Bundaberg, Australia whilst backpacking in her gap year.

The aims of the charity are to help fund backpackers in Australia, and ultimately the backpacking "route", if they find themselves in distress or financial hardship.

PlanetReunited.com Director Tracey Davies says, Carolines story has touched us and as ex-travellers ourselves, we were keen to help. Our website is aimed at past and present travellers, of which many are currently travelling the 'Backpackers Route. Our aim is to help spread awareness of the foundation, their seminars and good work through our website, publicity and members.

Safety whilst travelling is a serious issue and Carolines Rainbow Foundation, as part of their mission, are looking to educate the importance of safety awareness to young travellers.

An essential safety tip is to keep in touch with people back home on a regular basis. Last year, over 70% of backpackers travelled with a mobile phone, although the majority were loathed to use it due to the expense.
