Even God Now Has a Blog!

AZ group establishes God Blog for questions and prayer.

There's a new blog in the blogosphere -- TheGodBlog.com Although the page title reads, "Blogging for God," you get the impression these people are often working with God as well.

The site itself is an exercise in simplicity. There are no audio or video presentations, no graphics that take too long to load; only text. "It's all about words, or more precisely, THE Word," says Web Coordinator Trudy Schuett, who identifes herself as a backslid, but still believing, Christian.

At these early stages it boasts only a handful of links, not to other related blogs, but to things like Bible.org or the Men in Crisis Prayer Circle. The blog was an offshoot of MICPC, as it's called by volunteers. MICPC was established in 2001 by Arizona minister Trudy Mackay. She wanted to reach out to men who are often left out of the equation these days, when it comes to social/human services such as domestic violence shelters or divorce support. For these men, "Often prayer is the beginning of healing, " says Rev. Mackay.

Schuett recognized blogs as a new approach to communications. "Blogs are what a lot of people were hoping the Internet was going to be," she says. The blog itself, launched just last Sunday -- has some prayer requests, some notes on Christian leadership, and a prayer written by Rev. Mackay. There isn't a lot of content yet, but "Opening up the ministry to everyone has major possibilities," says Schuett.

"The problems we have today are not men's only, or women's only issues. Most of our problems come from forgetting we all need to cooperate -- not just with each other, but with the will of God. We all need love, and peace in our lives," says Rev. Mackay. "We need the security of belonging to something greater than ourselves."

Reverend Doctor Laughlin Mackay, husband of Trudy, will also be participating in this group project, when he returns to Arizona from a series of Midwest speaking engagements in early October. His book, Miracles in My Life, is an account of his personal experiences in healing through his thirty year service as a minister in the US, Mexico and the UK.
