National Association Of Health Education Centers (NAHEC)Names Pamela Kohl 2003-2004 President
Kohl takes gavel at Annual Conference in Philadelphia
(PRWEB) September 27, 2003 -- Pamela L. Kohl, Executive Director of the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education in Raleigh, NC, assumed the National Association of Health Education Centers (NAHEC) presidency at the organizations Annual Conference in Philadelphia, September 3-5, 2003.
NAHEC is a network of more than 40 health education centers in 20 states serving more than three million children and the adults who care for them. Health education centers offer a variety of interactive health prevention and promotion programs to school field trips in theater-style classrooms and/or in outreach" to schools utilizing life-sized exhibits, advanced technology, multimedia, hands-on activities, and interactive programs not generally found in conventional classrooms. Professional health educators teach programs to ages ranging from preschool through adults, and the student-age curriculum is designed to enhance and support school-mandated areas of study.
Kohl most recently served as President-elect of NAHEC, and has been a member of the board since 2000. She is a graduate of Guilford College with a degree in Sociology and has completed the University of North Carolina School of Business Government Executive Institute Program. Previously, Kohl was President/CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Capital and Coast and Planning Director of the United Way of North Carolina.
