Patent Attorney Leads Seminar on Patents, Copyrights and Trademarks for Independent Inventors and Writers

Karen Greenberg, a Patent Specialist attorney practicing in the U.S. Patent Office, presented an interactive talk covering all aspects of patent law and patent writing, as well as copyright and trademark protections, on September 15, 2003 in association with West Hartford's LifeLearn program.

A class on patent, copyright, and trademark protections was presented September 15, 2003 at 7PM through the West Hartford, CT Continuing Education Center. Ms. Karen Greenberg, a Patent Specialist attorney practicing in the U.S. Patent Office, presented an interactive talk on all aspects of patent law and patent writing, and discussed copyright and trademark protection for original creative work. Class participants, who were predominantly independent inventors, learned how patents are organized and written. By studying real patents, students became familiar with the technical language used by patent practitioners. All participants received copies of the multitude of required Patent Office form, and practiced the high art of translating the arcane language used in the Patent Office.
"Most writers and inventors don't realize that they can unknowingly lose all their rights to their own work if they - or even their friends or family - engage in certain non-allowed activities," said Ms. Greenberg. "It's a huge benefit if inventors find out these rules and regulations very early in the inventive process."
