College English Instructor Pens First Novel"

Author Marla D. Jackson kicks off fall book tour this month to promote her debut novel Climbing the Ladder to Love. The romance novel describes the agony of a woman who looks for love in all the wrong places.

CAMILLA, GEORGIA (PRWEB) September 29, 2003 -- Climbing the Ladder to Love (1stbooks) is a romantic thriller about Ruby, a successful educator whose love life is like a revolving door. Ruby believes that finding the perfect love is like climbing up a ladder; perfect love resides at the top. However, as Ruby ascends up this imaginary ladder, she painfully experiences episodes of bad relationships.

In spite of her accomplishments, Ruby feels that her life isnt complete without a man. Unfortunately, Ruby is unable to differentiate between incredible sex and everlasting love. Throughout these episodes, Ruby relies on the strong spiritual base of her upbringing by reading Juanita Bynums books.

As Ruby ascends the ladder, she encounters all types of men. She travels up this ladder to love to find out that at the top, it isnt always beautiful," said Jackson. Ruby looks for love in all the wrong places. When Ruby reaches the top, she meets a man whom she loves dearly, but he crushes her heart. The story wraps up with an unexpected twist.

Ruby and Jacksons lives are very similar. Both are young, African-American, daughters of ministers, and are educators. Jackson is working on the sequel to Climbing the Ladder to Love, expected for release early next year.

Climbing the Ladder to Love serves up a dose of sex, deception, God, and family. The story depicts the heartache that women face while in tumultuous relationships. Jackson said, I just wanted to put out there a real account of relationships between men and women."
