Author Brings Women's Achievements Up Front and Center
BEL AIR, MARYLAND -- Traditionally, history has been written by men, about the deeds of men, and for men. The accomplishments and adventures of women have been subdued, sublimated, and secreted. No longer! Author Alice H. Deck brings to life the incredible, interesting, and heretofore ignored achievements of Women in History (now available from 1stBooks Library).
Deck has compiled an anthology of women's contributions throughout history from over 175 different countries. She hopes that in recognizing and rewarding the successes of past women, she can inspire present and future generations of women to reach new heights.
The book covers a wide variety of fields from writing, medicine, education, and science, to law, social reform, business, religion, politics, sports and aviation. The information is organized by region and alphabetically by country. Each entry contains the woman's name, biographical information, key dates, accomplishments and awards, where applicable. In many cases, these women were the first to receive recognition in their respective fields.
Women in History is meticulously researched, extremely thought provoking, and extraordinarily well written. It eloquently and effectively captures the stories of women whose efforts and endeavors have been overlooked and under-appreciated for far too long.
