Highland Auctions Expresses Disgust Over Ebay's Disregard In ReIntstaing Checkout AGAIN
Ebay ReInstates Checkout Making It Mandatory Once Again
(PRWEB) September 29, 2003 --Highland Auction Services Inc, Silver Level Power Sellers expressed disgust today upon finding out that Ebay that re-instated it's policy of mandatory checkout.
"Many sellers have invested significant time and effort in third party checkout software" stated president Caroline Macatugob. "I thought Ebay had learned their lesson on this issue in early 2002 It's a blatant disregard for the users to apologise, wait.. and then turn around and do it again."
Ebay forced this issue in late 2001, early 2002, when large users like Home Depot, and smaller users alike, revolted in the system's largest discourse to-date. Ebay apologised, making checkout optional.
In a site release September 26th 2003, announcement as "paypal enhancements" checkout once again became mandatory for those sellers wishing to accept paypal, where-as previously ANY seller could disable Ebay's checkout system, and communicate post-sale instructions to their winning bidder. Ebay has even removed the word 'checkout" instead using the words "payment preferences".
"On September 25th, winning bidders would receive a communication from us, and visit our checkout, proceeding with our checkout instructions", says Caroline, "now they are forced to deal with conflicting instructions, as we are now required to turn on Ebay's checkout, or turn off paypal, neither of which is really a good option."
"We will continue to push Ebay to return checkout to an optional system, especially as season is here" continue Caroline. "I don't know why they persist in rolling out changes during the busiest times of the year"
