NETLIST, INC., ANNOUNCES WORLD'S LOWEST COST 2GB Double Data Rate (DDR) ECC REGISTERED DIMM IN MAINSTREAM PRODUCTION

6 January 2003, Irvine, CA – Netlist, Inc., a leader in High Performance Computing (HPC) memory products, announces the mainstream availability of its patent pending, low cost 2-inch, DDR266 2GB DIMM for blade servers, HPC Linux clusters, server appliances, database management and embedded computing systems.

6 January 2003, Irvine, CA – Netlist, Inc., a leader in High Performance Computing (HPC) memory products, announces the mainstream availability of its patent pending, low cost 2-inch, DDR266 2GB DIMM for blade servers, HPC clusters, server appliances, database management and embedded computing systems.

Christopher Lopes, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said, We designed the 2GB product for performance and reliability in compact, high temperature environments. As HPC OEMs moved to higher densities in late 2002, the benefit of our low-cost 2GB solution became clear - it can be mounted horizontally, vertically or at an angle to a motherboard. Weve hit a market sweet spot and we are shipping the 2GBs in high volume. We also have other low-cost 1GB, 2GB and higher density solutions, including SODIMMs."

Jay Bhakta, Vice President of Engineering, said, "In 2001 we designed this 2GB solution to achieve full electrical compliance with the JEDEC DDR200 and 266 specifications. By using 256Mb ICs instead of 512Mb ICs we are able to build at a fraction of the cost of a generic 2GB DIMMs. Our 4-bank product displays identical power consumption characteristics to 2-bank designs. Weve worked very closely with our OEM and motherboard partners to make designing in our low cost 2GB into their future motherboards a simple process."

"The key to this elegant design lies in our patent pending PCB design/layout technology called BP-Bilateral Symmetry. This technology allows us to layout the traces more efficiently and achieve the greater data signal integrity needed to process the DDR ICs in a two inch form factor".
