Cyber3D launches 3D Web Design Facility based on Adobe Atmosphere

Cyber3D becomes the first UK company to launch a 3D web design and hosting facility based on the new Adobe Atmosphere 3D platform.

London, 10 January 2003, the UKs first 3D web design and hosting facility, using the new Adobe Atmosphere, has been opened by Cyber3D (www.cyber3d.info). The company formed in August 2002 and created under the UK Business Investment Scheme, received initial funding through InitioStar Limited which allowed it to establish a virtual development organisation across the UK, Europe, USA and Australia.

Using the Adobe Atmosphere public beta, Cyber3D has developed technology demonstrations in the field of 3D events, music, on-line games and commercial applications and this month has secured its first two customers from the education and travel markets.

Commenting on the companys success to date Gary Lowrey said The market for 3D interactive internet technologies and applications is still embryonic, but we had the opportunity to get in on the ground floor and to build our expertise in this field. As broadband technology becomes more popular we see an enormous potential for using 3D interactive internet technologies, both in markets for entertainment and commercial applications."
Michael Kaplan, Director of Emerging Business for Adobe Atmosphere added Cyber3D is making an important contribution to the Adobe Atmosphere beta program, and has drawn together a highly skilled team from across the world. I believe that the ideas and applications now being developed by them could have a significant commercial impact in the markets for 3D business applications and targeted on-line games using the Adobe Atmosphere platform."
Cyber3D will be working with end users, technology businesses and ISPs to develop and promote 3D internet capabilities and applications. The company has already received interest from the music industry among others to use its 3D chat room capabilities and is working on a number of projects more generally in the fields of entertainment and education.

It is primarily focused on creating 3D web sites for events, music, games and on-line communities and was established under the UK Business Investment Scheme to provide individuals with the opportunity to share in its success. Notes to Editors

3D technologies are common in the games industry but as yet no industry standard has emerged more generally for the commercial markets. Cyber3D was created to be at the forefront of the broader developments and to provide a broader design and development capability that can exploit the new 3D technologies, as they become commercially available. It is anticipated that interactive 3D internet technologies will be better viewed with broadband communications and that as these become more common place then so will the new 3D technologies.
