Redstone Software Announces Eggplant v1.2 for Mac OS X
LAFAYETTE, CO, January 8, 2003 – Redstone Software, Inc., the leader in easy-to-use, cross-platform test automation tools, today announced the immediate availability of Eggplant v1.2 for Mac OS X and OS X VNC 1.1, both of which are upgrades to the current software offerings. The significant new features of Eggplant v1.2 include:
Socket support Allows SenseTalk (Eggplants general purpose scripting language) programs on the Eggplant system to communicate with a system-under-test (SUT) via standard TCP/IP sockets, providing a back door" capability for SenseTalk to examine the state and contents of the SUT;
SSH tunneling support Provides a secure connection to remote systems, supporting remote testing;
Improved scripting Provides improved interactive support for image libraries, allowing images to be interactively added to commands.
The significant new features of OS X VNC 1.1 are additional support for VNC 3.3.6—scroll wheels and added encodings.
Both systems will be demonstrated at MacWorld 2003 San Francisco in Booth 3261.
Eggplant for Mac OS X is a test automation tool that allows automation of almost any manual test. Eggplant tests the end user experience, much as a manual tester would. The interactive scripting development capability allows even an unsophisticated user to start using Eggplant within hours. Eggplants capabilities are also powerful enough to support the most complex environments and experienced users. Eggplants strengths are its ease of use and learning, its versatility, and its cost-effectiveness.
VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is, in essence, a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures.
These upgrades are a significant step forward in making Eggplant an even more flexible and powerful tool in the test automation software market," said John McIntosh, President of Redstone Software. It really opens up the entirely new remote testing market." McIntosh went on to say that Eggplants market acceptance is growing daily and that he is pleased with the market response to the Eggplant product.
