Air Automated Manifest System
Micro Software Services reports a revived Interest in U.S. Customs Air Automated Manifest System
Miami, FL: Miami-based Micro Software Services, Inc. (MSSI) reports a revived interest in U.S. Customs Air Automated Manifest System (Air AMS).
MSSI has experienced a dramatic increase in sales of its EDITRADE software in 2002, which is used by airlines, container freight stations and freight forwarders to communicate shipment data to U.S. Customs.
Why the renewed interest in Air AMS? Port security issues may be one, driving the point home that if accurate data is received earlier, it will improve our law enforcement agencies' ability to protect our borders. In December 2002, Customs required ocean carriers bound for the U.S. to submit detailed electronic manifests through Sea AMS no later than 24 hours prior to depature from foreign ports.
U.S. Customs Air AMS captures all of the manifest data, including house air waybill information. This information is critical for enforcement targeting. It reveals shipper, consignee and descriptions of cargo down to the lowest deliverable unit. Proven benefits of AMS participation have been paperless processing, elimination of repetitive trips to the local Customs House, reduction of cargo dwell time, increased Customs compliance and reduction in the supply chain life cycle. Micro Software Services has been supplying software and connectivity to Customs Air Automated Manifest System since 1990.
