He has been a member of the Pacific Coast Contact Lens Society for the past 20 years and a member of the Contact Lens Society of America for the past 29 years, 27 of which he has held Fellow status, advancing to Honored Fellow status ten years ago. Stanley is a former member of the CLSA's Board of Directors and Executive Committee, serving as president of the Society in 1973 and 1974. In addition, he has served as a contact lens instructor at numerous seminars and has written technical papers on contact lens technology. He is certified by the National Committee of Contact Lens Examiners, American Board of Opticianry, and the Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology where he completed a post graduate course in Contact Lens Technology. He is also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
