Agenda Pictures is determined to create films that rival the dramatic impact of independent filmmaking by utilizing traditional and modern methods of the self-reliant industry. Director/writer/producer/musical composer, Kaylene Peoples, used a variety of interesting film noir techniques, as well as, her original musical score to narrate the picture. REDEMPTION is a great example of fusing technical, narrative, and musical art. As a reward, REDEMPTION won for Best First Time Director (Kaylene Peoples) at the Hollywood Underground Film Festival (HUFFY), May 2002.
REDEMPTION is the story of Father David Michaels is a respected priest who one day falls prey to a mysterious woman's advances and comes very close to breaking his sacred vows. Unbeknownst to him, this is all just an elaborate scheme orchestrated by crime boss Eddie Dimarco to expose Father Michaels' dark past. Eddie frames Father Michaels for a murder, blackmails him with explicit photos, and threatens the life of his head nun. Father Michaels could lose everything, but he is forced to keep quiet. Eddie's malevolence only reinforces the guilt that Father Michaels feels over an indiscretion that has haunted him all these years. But, Father Michaels is not the only person with a secret past. Could Eddie Dimarco's vendetta be aimed at the wrong person…?
Agenda Pictures is a diverse film company that embraces the spirit of "independent filmmaking." The principals at Agenda Pictures, Kaylene Peoples and Linon Michael Loyd came together from opposite ends of the filmmaking spectrum with a vision to create a unique brand of cinema for a diverse audience.
Kaylene Peoples studied under Walter Scharf (Funny Girl, National Geographic, Willie Wonka) and David Raksin (Laura) at UCLA. After graduation, Kaylene (a professionally trained composer) scored numerous films. Her compositional style is a mix between Bernard Herrman (Psycho) and Ennio Morricone (The Mission). She took particular interest in the suspense thriller genre and filmmaking. Kaylene views film with the eye of a musician, adopting a philosophy that cinema should exploit the visual as well as auditory senses. She is one of a handful of African-American women in the film industry who is a director, screenwriter, producer, and composer.
Linon Michael Loyd has been an avid fan and discerning critic of films his entire life especially from the science fiction genre. His voracious appetite for the cinema rivals any film buff or critic working today. Stories reminiscent of Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, X-Files, Outer Limits and the like, are his specialty.
You'll find no better guide to take you on a mystical journey than Linon Michael
Loyd.
Kaylene and Linon formed Agenda Pictures where directing became their passion and remaining true to the art is indie films a priority. This film was/is supported by a cast and crew of gifted, local talent loyal to the independent industry. REDEMPTION is scheduled to premiere February 2002.
