InterCast One and CrossMedia Launch SMTi --Satellite Media Tour Interactive; New Service Combines Satellite and Internet Broadcasting
InterCast One, a provider of premium Internet broadcasting solutions, and CrossMedia, the broadcast publicity subsidiary of Golin/Harris International, have launched a new service that combines rich online content and interactivity with traditional Satellite Media Tours.
TUSTIN, CA (Jan. 23, 2003) – InterCast One, a provider of premium Internet broadcasting solutions, and CrossMedia, the broadcast publicity subsidiary of Golin/Harris International, have launched a new service that combines rich online content and interactivity with traditional Satellite Media Tours.
Called SMTi for Satellite Media Tour Interactive, the service was co-developed by InterCast One and CrossMedia and is being marketed and implemented under an agreement between the two companies. Terms were not disclosed.
InterCast One provides the proprietary software platform, streaming and Internet infrastructure and online publicity services for SMTi. CrossMedia provides all media notification, monitoring and reporting services, as well as broadcast production services.
As the core broadcast publicity team for Golin Harris International, CrossMedia is instrumental in allowing us to deliver an electronic communications product that seamlessly integrates video news with online and traditional PR techniques," said Linda Zimmer, CEO of InterCast One and Sideshow Network, Inc., the marketing services holding company that owns InterCast One.
SMTi gives clients the ability to reach major national broadcast programs with corporate announcements and then extends that reach to a greater number of smaller broadcast stations, print media, online media and individual analysts through a rich, two-way Internet broadcast via the Web. The interactive portion of SMTi includes high-quality video and audio streaming, synchronized slides, and moderated text-based or conventional telephony-based interactivity.
Rather than just talking to an audience, SMTi allows companies to engage in a real conversation and lets more media in on the conversation," Zimmer said.
SMTi takes the standard Satellite Media Tour to the next level," said Ron Sylvester, CrossMedia Executive Producer. And the possibilities for our clients to widen audience participation, encourage interactivity and increase long-term value are enormous."
SMTi includes live satellite broadcast interviews with stations such as CNN, CBS Marketwatch, CNBC, CNNfn, Fox News Channel, Bloomberg Television and other major news outlets (conducted from a studio or via a remote location and a satellite truck). There is also a fully branded online media tour Web site for the InterCast, with support documents, images and other materials. Additional features include language translation and closed-captioning.
SMTi is the perfect marriage between broadcasting and interactive, online communication," Zimmer said. Our company is about fostering communication and participation, and SMTi exemplifies this philosophy."
