Olney, MD--Free materials to help communities honor educators during
the 2003 Week of the Classroom Teacher (May 4-10) are now available from
the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI), the organization that sponsors the annual celebration. A planning guide may be downloaded from www.acei.org; free mini-posters and brochures are also available while quantities last.
This is our way of saying thank-you to teachers worldwide," said ACEI
Executive Director Gerald Odland. They invest in our childrens future. In addition to educational responsibilities, teachers nurture orphans of AIDS victims, feed hungry children, and shelter others from violence, often for low pay and no prestige. This is why we designate a time—the first full week in May—to publicly show our support."
Used by PTAs, administrators, students, local businesses, and others who wish to recognize teachers hard work and dedication, the guide assists with the planning and implementation of events and includes sample press releases, labels, letters,
and other helpful materials.
For those who want to add flash" to celebrations, ACEI has added sample certificates, bookmarks, and a proclamation request—the organization received
13 Gubernatorial Week of the Classroom Teacher" proclamations in 2002.
Requests for mini-posters and brochures should be mailed to ACEI,
17904 Georgia Avenue, Suite 215, Olney, MD 20832 USA, or placed by phone
at (800) 423-3563. Find more information about the Week of the Classroom Teacher and ACEI at www.acei.org.
