Guests Celebrate The Year of the Blues" At The Third Annual Jamaica Blues Jam: The Annual Blues Festival For Musicians And Blues Fans
Blues artists and fans from around the world will celebrate the Year of the Blues" at the Third Annual Jamaica Blues Jam. Scheduled for September 7 - 14, 2003 at Hedonism III, the Blues Jam offers attendees afternoon jam sessions and evening performances.
Crowley, Texas, January 24, 2003 -- Blues artists and fans from around the world will celebrate the Year of the Blues" at the Third Annual Jamaica Blues Jam. Scheduled for September 7 - 14, 2003 at Hedonism III in Jamaica, the Blues Jam offers attendees a variety of special events, including afternoon jam sessions and evening performances. Musicians are invited to participate in the afternoon jam sessions with the Jams host artists.
Roy Robbins, a veteran bass player from Fort Worth, Texas, will coordinate the festivities and perform with the Other Band. This is a great opportunity for musicians to gain international exposure", says Robbins. Plus, you get a great vacation!"
Blues Jam attendees will also enjoy all the features and activities at this adults-only, all-inclusive resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. All meals and unlimited premium brand cocktails are included, along with a full range of activities and entertainment. Theme parties every night include pajama, masquerade and toga contests, circus shows, and talent competitions. The host musicians for the Third Annual Jamaica Blues Jam include:
ROY ROBBINS - Bass Player and Production Coordinator, is associated with many great musicians, including Billy Joe Shaver, Delbert McClinton, Willie Nelson, and Buddy Miles. Roy was the featured bass player at both the First and Second Annual Blues Jams.
PAUL BYRD - lead guitarist, has performed in New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Memphis, Anchorage, and Denver. With his own Blues band, Paul opens shows for such notables as ZZ TOP, Jeff Healey, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bo Diddley, Otis Rush, and Roomful of Blues. Since performing at the Second Annual Blues Jam, he has toured Europe and Alaska, and produced a new CD. Paul plays and sings the blues with a style reminiscent of early BB King.
JOHNNY MACK - Lead Singer that also plays the Rub board. He sings Blues, Jump, Rockabilly, Rhythm & Blues. He is also a freelance writer for Dallas/Fort Worth music and entertainment magazines. Johnny's musical influences include: Delbert McClinton, the late Robert Ealey, and Jimmy Reed. He fronts his own band -- The Mojo Cowboys -- and hosts the Tuesday Blues Jam each week at the Captain's Den in Fort Worth.
RENO OCHOA - Drummer who performs with his own band The Rhythm Kings" and other great Texas bands including "The Holland K Smith Band", "Johnny Mack & The Mojo Cowboys", and "The Paul Byrd Band". His styles include West Coast Jump Blues, Texas Blues, Traditional Chicago Blues, and even "Old School Motown".
