nautahomedesigns.com, is the first home design company to offer free blueprints on the internet, that you can download.

Nauta Home Designs, a Canadian design company, through their website www.nautahomedesigns.com is letting people download construction blueprints of homes in PDF format for free. By doing so, people are able to see the quality of designs that are available to purchase online.

In 2000, Hank Nauta, President of Nauta Home Designs, was developing some concepts for the companies website www.nautahomedesigns.com.

Nauta Home Designs was known for establishing unique customer services, and the website had to incorporate some of these unique services. The website had to be dynamic, not static, and offering unique services online would help the company gain more business.

While researching companies and their websites, and what services are online, he noted some flaws with doing business over the internet.

"The internet is a great medium by which to find, and locate products to buy, but you can't actually touch or inspect the product. All you are looking at is an image! This makes the buying process difficult or such that people are disappointed with the purchase. When we decided to start licensing and selling blueprints of our designs, we realized the internet was a great medium to show our designs, but a difficult medium to sell blueprints. So we had to make the internet an enjoyable medium for show and sell."

How did the company do that? The solution seemed simple...show people the design and the construction blueprints. However, with over 500 of their own designs online, and growing weekly, the solution is next to impossible.

What the company came up with was brilliant!
Have www.nautahomedesigns.com with a database of designs to search through, but also offer some designs as free downloadable blueprints. With Adobe PDF document format, scanning and putting blueprints online for downloading is easy. By doing so, people can see exactly how our blueprints are drafted, and know exactly what to expect when they order house plans from us.

"This crosses the line where the internet ends."
"Our company enables the internet to be a medium by which people can enjoy our services and enjoy purchasing our products."

The response is awesome. People from Canada, United States, Japan and Europe have downloaded blueprints from the companies website, and sales are climbing.
"People are responding. They are saying thanks. They like being able to download a blueprint and know what to expect."
