The system can be set to automatically update, and can track according to trademark product class, competitor name or keyword. The tool also includes a customized reporting tool. The tool which is priced at $99.97 is being introduced at $69.97. Users can test drive" the product before buying.    

TMAlert was co-developed by IPTools CEO and founder, Scott J. Fields, a Philadelphia-based intellectual property lawyer and Softnik Technologies of Chennai India. Softnik is the developer of a number of well known and popular desktop internet-related monitoring and marketing applications including Good Key Words" and Domain Name Analyzer".

Fields stated that he came up with the concept for TMAlert based upon the needs of his law practice in which he found it difficult to easily monitor trademarks for his clients. Fields stressed, when we monitor the trademark registry, we typically would have to go to the Patent and Trademark Office website and do a number of searches or to go through the weekly Official Gazette, a bulky booklet to monitor for important publishing or registering marks. With publishing marks, time is of the essence because a potential opposer has only 30 days to act. I saw an immediate need for a tool which could automatically and easily perform this function. I have long been a very satisfied customer of Softnik and greatly admired their downloadable tools. I decided to approach them about developing TMAlert."

The product is being sold via the Internet at TMAlert.com. IPTools is also marketing the product through the Patent Café, its partner on its Feebid and IPFee sites. IPTools will also offer the product through affiliates and it will be bundled with its IPLegalDirectory and Feebid product offerings.    Softnik will also be promoting the product through its network of sellers and distributors
