Anti-Valentines Night Out at the Foxgrape Film Series

People have one of two reactions to Valentines Day, one of disgust and anger from bad experiences, and one of joy and elation. For one night only, we are catering to the former.

Anti-Valentines Night Out” is an idea conceived by Artistic Director Alex Morrison and Alex Michaels of Prelude2Cinema. The event is supported by the new Cleveland group Indie Cleveland,” which supports Cleveland independent filmmakers. The films will begin on Saturday, Feb. 15th 9:00 at the Foxgrape Cafe at 19 West College Street, in Oberlin, Ohio with full dinner service available before the screenings.

There will be two films featured, Valentines Day,” by filmmaker Alex Morrison, and Hot Rain,” by filmmaker Alex Michaels.

Alex Morrison is the founder of the Foxgrape Film Series, and a freelance filmmaker/cinematographer/photographer based in Oberlin, Ohio. Morrisons film Mighty Like a Rose” has just been selected to take part in Prevues, a best of Ithaca College screening taking place in Los Angeles, New York City and Ithaca.

Valentines Day” was one of the first shorts created by Morrison, and features the story of a lover who has been dumped on Valentines Day. The main character comes up with an abstract plot to relieve his mind through a quirky tale of lost love.

Emmy-winning writer Alex P. Michaels has crafted a truly independent film, while helming the project as writer/director, with the release of Prelude2Cinema's "The Hot Rain". The story is a black-and-white tale of love that doesn't include opening up...unless you can be someone else. "The Hot Rain" is also loosely inspired by "Vertigo," so you can expect plenty of twists and turns along the way, and is also accompanied by a solid and haunting rhythm and blues/jazz soundtrack.

The director is asking for a five-dollar donation per couple. So bring a date!
