ORCA COMMUNICATIONS UNLIMITEDS VIRTUAL OFFICE MODEL SUBSTANTIATES RESEARCH FINDINGS EXTOLLING THE BENEFITS OF TELEWORK
- Public Relations Firm Says Employee Job Satisfaction is Excellent and Productivity is High –
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB)October 30, 2003 – Orca Communications Unlimited, LLC today announced it has experienced nearly 400 percent growth since its inception last year and over 30 percent increase in productivity. Julia Hutton, founder, president and CEO says the reasons for this growth are partially due to the virtual" nature of the company.
Orcas virtual office consists of eleven employees who work from their actual home offices. The company does not have physical headquarters, nor is there a central computer hub; most correspondence is done over email and telephone. Employees are required to attend monthly meetings, which are usually held in a home or a local restaurant. Yet Orca is by no means alone in its ‘virtual nature.
Yankee Group data reports that there will be 137 million mobile workers in the United States this year. In the next two years more than 80 percent of companies around the world are expected to offer teleworking opportunities to their employees, according to a survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit. A trend this large affects every business industry and makes a strong financial impact within a company.
The Economist Intelligence Unit also reports that 64 percent of companies identified improved productivity as the top benefit of telework. Even large companies such as AT&T are turning towards working from home. In 2002, the giant phone company generated over $150 million in business benefit by enhancing productivity, reducing overhead costs, and lowering the turnover rate.
Orca employees are committed to excellence and their clients and Orcas success, and they continually make the extra effort while working independently from their home offices," says Hutton. According to the author of Motivating Employees For Dummies, Max Messer, we are in a workforce where 50 percent of employees only put enough effort into their work to keep their job, so extra effort goes a long way. International Telework Association research substantiates the fact that the vast majority of telecommuters are committed to their organization and dont plan to look for a new job.
Orca Communications is known for its ability to generate results that far exceed clients expectations," says Hutton, and this is due to the fact that our employees are good at what they do and are able to meet and exceed goals largely because they are not drained by commutes and distractions of a typical office environment."
Ann Noder, Director of Public Relations for Orca Communications and also a mother of a toddler says, Like any new mom, I struggled with the idea of balancing work and motherhood. Working from home allows me to experience the best of both worlds. I dont have to tear out the door on a rush to daycare, only to return 8 to 10 hours later. I can be effective at my job while still being there for my child."
