SILVERLAKE, CA (PRWEB) October 2, 2003 -Solventdreams, a post production boutique in Silverlake, joins forces with "Cabin Fever" Producer and Sundance filmmaker Roy T. Wood.

Independent feature company Dream Entertainment and Lost Canyon Films contracted Solventdreams to do all the editing, color correction, compositing, effects and output to film for the stop-motion clay-mation feature "Disaster." The project is directed by animator Roy T. Wood, a Sundance Festival filmmaker for "Star Trak." Overseeing the complex endeavor is emerging independent producer Evan Astrowsky with a recent credit on the newly released "Cabin Fever."

Solventdreams compositor Joseph Emerling is using the award-winning compositing software Shake and Final Cut Pro to do the job in Hi Def for film output for Burbank based Fotokem Laboratory. "It's a challenge because this has never been done before on desktop computers..a claymation feature on shot with digital cameras, all done on a couple of Macs," said Emerling. Creative Director David Davidson oversees the integration of all the components, "We're using Maya and Lightwave for the 3d pieces, Discreet's combustion for CGI particles and motion tracking, Shake for the final integration, mattes, and color of the cineon files, After Effects for generating 2d layers and elements, and Final Cut Pro for the editing & outputs."

The production uses Minolta digital cameras for all the image acquisition. Solventdreams loads production TIFF images onto a HD RAID, and conforms them in Shake. When the final feature is done, Davidson estimates the feature will be over 5 terabytes of information.
