MRO-TEK LAUNCHES INDIAS FIRST, ETHERNET FIRST MILE OVER FIBER
ACCESS DEVICE, FCAT-M
The product was conceptualized and indigenously developed in record 12 months.

Bangalore,(PRWEB) September 30, 2003: MRO-TEK Ltd., last mile access and network solutions provider today unveiled the FCAT-M, the single/ dual channel managed Ethernet over fiber access device designed and manufactured indigenously to combine efficient operation with flexibility and high scalability.

The FCAT will be manufactured at MRO-TEKs world-class facility at Electronic City, Bangalore.

S Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director, MRO-TEK. Ltd. said, "MRO-TEK is committed to providing real-world solutions for today's networks. Ethernet over fiber access are an important component of today's growing network - they facilitate network evolution."

FCAT- M converts signals it receives from one media type to signals appropriate to another media type with in-house developed patent pending technology LQM to link monitor and manage remotely, the network devices and equipment on the enterprise. In addition the FCAT-M has support for inbuilt WDM technology which can carry Ethernet signals over a single fiber,
resulting in doubling the capacity of the last mile network.

The USP of FCAT is its capability to alert the network managers well in advance on any degradation the network might encounter. This enables the manager to take preventive action and diagnose the problem using MRO-TEKs patent pending LQM technology." Said Mr. Narayanan.

In its first release, the FCAT comes with modular chassis, fiber to copper and multimode to single-mode fiber converters for Gigabit Ethernet, Fast (100 Mbps) Ethernet and 10/100 Ethernet. The central FCAT rack can accommodate and support 24 ports of Ethernet over fiber or 12 ports with link redundancy.

If we have to be successful in this market it was very clear, develop a solution that can manage thousands of last mile connections real-time, resulting in highly cost effective scalability. Our team of engineers developed NMS software embedded into the device to cater the needs of effective management. By deploying FCAT, carriers can now successfully manage their last mile network, save OPEX cost and at the same time improve their service level to their customers." Said Mr. C.S. Ramakrishnan, VP, Marketing.
