VeriLAN Broadcasts Wireless Broadband To Portland, Oregon
Tigard, OR (PRWEB) September 30, 2003 -- VeriLAN, Inc., an Oregon based wireless solutions provider, has designed and installed the first Vivato outdoor switch in Portland, Oregon. Vivato's outdoor switches deliver Wi-Fi to a much larger area when compared to other competing 80.211 hardware. Vivato's outdoor switches can support Wi-Fi client devices up to 4 kilometers away without the need for external antennas or amplifiers. The Vivato switch allows VeriLAN the capability to supply wireless Internet service for up to 1000 concurrent clients in downtown Portland, Oregon. The Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) service also will allow the subscribers Internet coverage within the established service area.
Steven Schroedl, President of VerilLAN Inc., stated, The coverage area that the Vivato switch is providing is amazing. We have been getting calls about our coverage from many parts of Southwest downtown Portland, and all the way up to Northwest 21st and Everett Street."
Mr. Schroedl further stated, VeriLAN Inc. is also testing new Non Line Of Sight (NLOS) 802.16 hardware from Wi-LAN that provides enterprise wireless to companies that require up to 24 Mb connections as far away as 22 miles with service that matches traditional copper and fiber connections". These new radios will provide secure links with quality of service guaranteed. This will enable bandwidth provisioning for customer bandwidth guarantees.
Raj Savara, Executive Vice President of VeriLAN, Inc. stated, VeriLAN has secured channels on key buildings around Portland. The correctly placed antennas allow businesses and home owners high speed Internet access at substantial cost savings over current service offerings."
