(PRWEB) October 3, 2003 --The UK charter airline Astraeus today announced the launch of an Operational Flight Data Monitoring (OFDM) programme targeted at improving flight safety. Key to this programme is the selection of Flight Data Services Limited (FDSL), the leading flight data analysis service provider.
John Mahon, Astraeus's Operations Director said "Introduction of OFDM will enhance our Safety Management System and improve the efficiency of our operation. Outsourcing the analysis to FDSL gives us a sophisticated system, tailored to our needs, at a lower cost than an in-house solution".
Data will be downloaded daily at Astraeus's 3 principal bases, Gatwick, Manchester, and Keflavik, and sent to FDSL by secure Internet link. Within an hour of download, FDSL will provide information on the flight to Astraeus engineers and their engine management specialists, Total Engine Support Ltd. FDSL will use their expertise in flight data analysis to manually validate all flight safety events and then report validated events to the Flight Safety Manager via a secure website.
