FORSK announces a new version of the ATOLL AFP module
This new generation of the ATOLL AFP module can fully exploit the enhanced GSM/GPRS/TDMA capabilities of ATOLL 2.1.
ATOLL
Global RF planning solution
ATOLL is a comprehensive Windows-based multi-technology and user-friendly radio planning environment that supports wireless telecom operators during the whole network lifetime, from initial design to densification and optimisation.
Quite apart from its engineering capabilities, ATOLL is an open, scalable and flexible technical information system that integrates easily with other IT systems, increases productivity and shortens lead times.
ATOLL supports a full range of implementation scenarios, from standalone to enterprise-wide server-based configurations using distributed and parallel computing.
This new generation of the ATOLL AFP module is the result of an R & D project launched by FORSK two years ago. It has been made available in version 2.1.2 of ATOLL.
The new AFP module can fully exploit the enhanced GSM/GPRS/TDMA capabilities of ATOLL 2.1. Its main features are the following:
- support for multi-layered networks and concentric cells;
- allocation of frequency hopping parameters (HSN, MAIO and MAL);
- user-definable constraints (separation, border restrictions, re-use pattern, etc.)
- editable cost function based on a soft penalty approach.
- frequency restrictions/constraints and quality indications at sub-cell level.
This new AFP module is based on the extended API (Application Programming Interface) that FORSK introduced with version 2.1 of ATOLL. This API is now made available to ATOLL users and third party developers and allows full integration of an external AFP module.
Cegetel, Vodafone Group and Major UK Operator have chosen ATOLL as their strategic RF planning tool.
