COMPUTRONICS WINS BIGGEST CONTRACT IN COMPANYS HISTORY TO SUPPLY ELECTRONIC DISPLAY PRODUCTS AND TIMING EQUIPMENT FOR 2006 ASIAN GAMES IN DOHA
Perth, 3 October 2003: Computronics Corporation Ltd (ASX:"CPS") today announced it had been awarded a multi-million dollar contract (10.5 million Riyals approximately 4 million dollars) to supply all of the electronic display products and timing equipment for the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar in December 2006.
The contract is for the supply of a complete system of scoreboards and replay screens for the new purpose-built Khalifa Sports Centre in Doha -- part of $2 billion spending by the Gulf State to stage the event which is expected to attract as many as 11,000 athletes from some 40 countries. Computronics will construct a total of 25 scoring display systems under the contract.
It is the largest contract secured in the 27-year history of the business of CPS, which listed on the ASX in January this year. The contract represents a major boost to the companys Display Products division. Additional staff will be employed at the companys Bentley headquarters to service the contract.
Computronics Chief Executive Officer Ole Hansen said Winning the Doha contract was a resounding endorsement of the companys electronic display products and it verifies our ability to compete on the world stage. This contract comes as a result of our push into the export market and places us in an excellent position to win further international orders."
