Winning, multicultural horror tale shows a female's journey into life's snares and puncture wounds

A female of color searches for love, support, and a better life than the one she has had. She has an unsupportive family-a mother who sees spirts and a seemingly weak, absentee father. Once she sets out on her 'adventure' trying to better her life, she meets up with unhelpful types and men who want nothing more than her body. And, she is constantly pursued by leeches and spiders. LIFE'S PUNCTURE WOUNDS is a multicultural horror tale where the female character struggles to break free from her natural and unnatural horrors. Readers wonder if she will succeed and at what cost.

Want to think while reading a dark tale set in the multicultural worlds of California and Central America? Find out what real/imagined, daily horror can be like by reading Lifes Puncture Wounds." LPW" is a sometimes sad, sometimes erotic, and horrific tale of an African American female coming of age in Los Angeles, California and Central America. The characters are multicultural as the heroine, Tara, tries to find some place to belong to and to feel whole. LPW" involves many aspects of life. Despair. Hope. Struggle. Survival. Fighting against the odds. It is also a dark, erotic fantasy. Blood sucking leeches and gargantuan spiders leave puncture marks and haunt Taras waking moves.

LPW" asks the questions: If youre not born into a supportive family, do you give up? What do you do if the cards seem to be stacked against you?
Some critics have praised it, calling it well written. Readers of all ages, ethnicities, and persuasions have said that they were shocked, saddened, enlightened, and curious about the book. Some found it gothic and could not put it down! Many readers understood its allegorical nature and had some questions.

Quashie Jean grew up in an inner-city neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA and at 14 attended a predominantly white private boarding school in rural New Hampshire. Being tired of the cold and in search of adventure, Quashie attended USC and then UCLA in Southern California. That area was the opposite of the country life and cold of New England and the dangerous, inner-city life in PA. Out of a desire to see the country, Quashie took a bus from the East Coast to the West Coast that was hijacked in Blythe, California. The crazy hijacker was captured, but not before a few people had jumped off a moving bus to try to save their lives. Some were quite injured from those jumps. Quashie was unharmed.

Quashie spent most of her formative years in Southern California and decided to return to the East Coast and get a second degree (Journalism). She has worked successfully as a Journalist for the: Los Angeles Times, The Enterprise, UPI, Life Magazine, CNN, ABC News, KCRW Radio, and public access, cable stations. Over 100 published newspaper articles bear her byline. She also has videos and tapes of her work. She also served a one-year term as an Americorps*VISTA for nonprofit, health and environmental organizations serving the poor in Philadelphia.

Quashie is a member of the Horror Writers Association, the National Writers Union, and a past member of the Communication Workers of America.
LPW" is currently in libraries in Southern California and Philadelphia, PA. It is listed on several websites and has been sold at a museum and book stores.
