WestConn Toastmasters Sweep Area A-4 Speech Contests !

Kevin Wortman and Maureen Reville won the Toastmasters Area A-4 TableTopics and Humorous Speech Contest held at the Wooster School Library, Danbury, CT, on Wednesday, September 24th. Both Kevin and Maureen will be competing at the Division level competition at Brookfield (CT) High School on October 9th, 2003 at 7:30pm. The public is welcome to attend!

Danbury, CT. (PRWEB) October 8, 2003 -4 TableTopics and Humorous Speech Contest held at the Wooster School Library on Wednesday, September 24th. Both Kevin and Maureen will be competing at the Division level competition at Brookfield High School on October 9th, 2003 at 7:30pm. The public is welcome to attend!

Kevins impromptu TableTopic speech addressed the relationship between the shapes of chocolates and the people and drew parallels between a box of chocolates and a community.

Maureens winning Humorous Speech told a story of her familys adventures one Christmas Day when they experienced a certain restaurant for the first time, Hooters" !

All the members of WestConn Toastmasters are proud of Kevin and Maureen and we wish them the best of luck at the next level.", commented Dave Wheeler, President of West Conn Toastmasters.

TableTopics are impromptu speeches of 1-2 minute duration based on a question provided immediately before the contestant begins speaking. It challenges the speakers ability to think on their feet while presenting a fully developed and organized speech.

The Humorous Speech is a prepared speech of 5-7 minute duration. The speech is judged on the audiences reaction to the humor as well as preparation and presentation. There are a series of Humor Speech contests that progress from the Club level to the Area to the Division to the District to Region and then to the International Level.

- Kevin Wortman works as Senior Vice President for GE Capital in Danbury. He has been a Toastmaster for 10 years and has achieved the designation of Accomplished Toastmaster Silver (ATM-Silver). Kevin lives in Woodbury, CT.

- Maureen Reville is Principal of Ridgefield Funding in Ridgefield, CT which provides financing solutions for businesses. She has been a Toastmaster for two years and lives in Ridgefield, CT.

- WestConn Toastmasters Club meets the first and third Wednesday of every month in the Wooster School Library in Danbury, CT. More information on WestConn Toastmasters is available from their web site, www.WestConnToastmasters.org .
