UNCONVENTIONAL WISDOM - CONSULTING FOR THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY
Management consultant, David Parrish, with international experience spanning commercial, government, NGO and not-for-profit sectors has launched a new service for the international hospitality industry. This is based on a recent assignment "providing an outsiders insight" to Le Meridien Hotels as part of a package delivered by TRI Hospitality Consulting.
David was called on by TRI because they wanted an experienced international consultant on their team from outside the hospitality industry. "We chose David because of his experience and knowledge of best practice in other industries," commented Guy Standish-Wilkinson, senior consultant at TRI Hospitality Consulting in Dubai.
The TRI business plan was strengthened because David was able to look at the situation differently. He introduced a technique of competitor analysis borrowed from the banking industry and worked with the hotel's senior management to devise a winning strategy. "As an MBA, who has worked in the Britain, the USA, Canada, Ireland and China, I often see opportunities for business improvement that are not instantly apparent to other managers and consultants whose approach is conditioned by their sector knowledge and experience," explained David.
Newly returned form a teaching assignment with a Business School in Shanghai, David has a relaxed and open style and offers a flexible consultancy service. This includes an initial one-day review to assess viability of a project before proceeding with a full-scale exercise.
