SHORT-TERM STRESS STUDY: REACH FOR A COOKIE

A new report suggests that a snack like the Charleston Cookie Co.s chocolate chip, pecan cookies may help combat short-term stress like that caused by the holidays.

A new report suggests that a snack like the Charleston Cookie Co.s chocolate chip, pecan cookies may help combat short-term stress.

Moderate consumption of high-fat, high-carbohydrate foods, like cookies, seems to combat an out-of-control hormonal imbalance caused by chronic stress. According to a paper by Mary F. Dallman in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (http://www.pnas.org/), high-fat, high-carbohydrate snacks appear to counteract the so-called fight or flight" mechanism set off by stress. At least, it seems to in rats.

Perhaps rats know something we humans should explore more fully," says Judith Moore, CEO of Charleston Cookie Co. I say if you are stressed out, eat a cookie!"

Charleston Cookie Co. LLC is the company that bakes chocolate chip, pecan cookies with a uniquely Southern secret ingredient. Only Charleston Cookie Co. CEO Judith Moore knows the complete recipe.
