TTPCom integrates Synergenix mophun game engine

Multiplayer games to be demonstrated at ITU Telecom

Cambridge, UK (PRWEB) 8 October 2003. TTPCom Ltd, the worlds leading independent supplier of digital wireless technology has completed integration of its Wireless Graphics Engine (WGE) with the mophun game engine from Synergenix. This milestone has been achieved less than two months after the announcement of a collaboration between the two companies, and is leading to the development of a single standard for state-of-the-art wireless gaming in mass market mobile phones. The new platform is being released to customers for integration into their handsets.

This is a significant achievement for our gaming team in Denmark," stated Gordon Aspin, Operations Director at TTPCom. The speed at which we have completed this port is indicative of the simplicity of the code and the match in design philosophy between TTPCom and Synergenix. By integrating mophun into our technology suite our handset customers can implement download capabilities in their phones and therefore enable their users to access the latest games through mophun-enabled network operators."

Synergenix has also completed the demonstration of multiplayer games using Symbian enabled handsets. The demonstration, which will be shown on TTPComs stand number 2261.060 in Hall 2 at ITU Telecom in Geneva, uses Bluetooth to establish the connection between handsets and can support a maximum of 8 players.

Per Österberg, CEO of Synergenix stated, mobile multiplayer gaming offers a huge opportunity for network operators to generate additional revenues. Bluetooth supports games between up to 8 players in close proximity, but the step up to GPRS opens up the potential for the development of huge wireless gaming communities operating across the world. Some of our customers have already reported an increased ARPU of up to € 7.30 per month from the delivery of mophun games, and multiplayer gaming will increase this number further. Our combined technologies also enable the operator to deliver the latest multiplayer 3D games from Synergenix over-the-air to mobile phones. This keeps the operator in control of the subscribers gaming experience and revenue opportunities."

From a gaming point of view the next few months look very exciting. With WGE and mophun now integrated, we have a clear roadmap for our handset customers. Not only can they progress from embedded games, to downloadable content, but perhaps more exciting is the step to multiplayer games using Bluetooth and GPRS," added Gordon Aspin.

About mophun
The mophun gaming platform can run on extremely limited hardware resources with minimum requirements of an 8-bit processor running on 12 MHz. Because of the limited hardware resource requirements mophun games can run on todays existing 2G-phones. For the new 2.5- and 3G phones this results in decreased manufacturing costs and a far better gaming experience. This also means that mophun can deliver an impressive 3D gaming experience with very low hardware requirements. Offering true binary portability of games over all devices supporting mophun, it has quickly become popular among both professional game developers and mobile network operators. The game can be downloaded via WAP directly to the phone, or to a computer and then transferred to the phone via infrared (IR) or cable. Synergenix has also created a developer community around the mophun gaming concept, including discussion forums and a virtual marketplace for games.

mophun is a trademark owned by Synergenix Interactive AB.
