TTPCom InTouch Programme Yields Fast Time to Market for MiraeComm
From contract to market in 6 months
Cambridge, UK, 9 October 2003. TTPComs customer, MiraeComm of Korea, will be demonstrating their new camera phone at the ITU Telecom show in Geneva this month. TTPCom signed an agreement with MiraeComm only 6 months ago, for the development of products for the global mobile phone market based upon TTPComs ITH155 handset design. MiraeComm has released a number of production ready phones in this short period and is poised to take the phones to mass production.
TTPComs InTouch range of handset designs provides licensees with complete PCB designs, plus verified and approved protocol stack and application software which supports the latest features. The ITH155 design is a tri-band GPRS class 10 phone with colour screen, embedded digital camera, MMS, WAP, polyphonic sound, and high quality games. MiraeComm has customised the phones man machine interface (MMI) and developed caseworks for the product.
MiraeComm, who are a manufacturer of CDMA and GSM mobile phones, licensed TTPComs GSM /GPRS ITH155 design to provide them with a fast route into the GSM phone market. Using their well-established connections they intend to launch their phones in the European and Latin American markets.
John Barber, Managing Director of TTPComs Terminals Division stated, MiraeComm approached us earlier in the year looking for a fast route for the development of a range of exciting new handsets -- with cameras, colour screens, WAP, GPRS, games and polyphonic ringtones. Their engineering team is experienced in the development of mobile phones and with support from our team in Korea they have developed a comprehensive range of phones that are ready for mass production. We have always maintained that customers can achieve production ready phones within 6 months from the time of contract signature and MiraeComm have demonstrated that that is more than achievable."
TTPCom have an excellent reputation in the mobile phone market in Korea and we are very pleased with the speed at which we have been able to progress this project. The move into GSM phones is a logical step for our company, and with existing strong contacts, particularly in Latin American, we are confident of taking advantage of the growing market for GSM phones there," said James Park, Managing Director of MiraeComm. He added, at our flexible manufacturing facility in Seoul we are geared up to produce both MiraeComm branded phones and to manufacture on behalf of network operators and other big brand names who want to gain a presence in the mobile phone market with camera phones or entry level models."
Those interested in seeing the MiraeComm camera phone and to understand more about TTPComs InTouch programme, are invited to visit the TTPCom stand number 2261.060 in Hall 2 at ITU Telecom in Geneva, 12th to 18th October.
