Long Branch, NJ (PRWEB) October 8 2003-- Acne sufferers desperate to get relief from stubborn cases of acne now have a unique new treatment option -- laser. ClearLight, the first FDA-approved acne treatment device for moderate inflammatory acne, offers safe and effective treatment that destroys the bacteria that cause acne without damaging the skin. ClearLight treatment is available at the Dermatology & Laser Center in Long Branch.

Acne affects almost all people at some point in their life. Americans spend over $1.4 billion on acne lotions, creams, medications, and treatments, often with limited success. Furthermore, many acne treatments have side effects that include redness, skin irritation, peeling, sensitivity to the sun, and occasional more serious complications. ClearLight has no known side effects, yet is effective and painless.

ClearLight has dramatically improved the skin of my patients in as little as four weeks," says Dr. Benjamin Cohen, M.D., founder and director of the Dermatology & Laser Center. Teens in particular benefit from these quick results that are virtually hassle-free and dont cause unpleasant side effects. The effects on their skin, as well as on their self-esteem, are dramatic."

The ClearLight system uses high-intensity, narrow-band phototherapeutic light to destroy acne-causing bacteria. Patients receive eight bi-weekly treatments over a four-week period, with each treatment lasting approximately 15 minutes. ClearLight can be used on all affected areas, including the face, neck, chest, and back. In one study, acne lesions -- whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples -- were decreased by 70 percent two weeks after the last treatment. This response is comparable to the response from a 12-week treatment with topical medication and oral antibiotics, and may be longer lasting.

I am thrilled to be able to offer such an effective treatment to my patients and to provide them with a painless and hassle-free escape from the embarrassment and discomfort of acne," says Dr. Cohen.

The Dermatology & Laser Center is located at 279 Third Avenue, Long Branch, New Jersey and can be reached at 732-222-8323 or visit their website at www.dlccohenmd.com.
