Fall Is The Perfect Time To Properly Preserve Memories

During this time of year, our thoughts turn to family. Take time to remember family and to cherish the things you are most grateful for by preserving your family memories properly.

Everyone has pictures and stories that go along with them. Often these photos end up in shoeboxes, under our beds or perhaps in magnetic albums that can cause the photos to yellow or fade over time. The people, places and stories behind the pictures are often not recorded. The result can be a wealth of memories that are lost or ruined.

Jamie Van, owner of Heritage Creations, a company specializing in creating various types of memory albums, says the best way to ensure that the past isnt lost is to document it in a creative and archivally safe manner. Pictures and memorabilia stored in a box will mean little to future generations if they dont know the story behind them," she explains. By taking the time to write down stories and properly preserve photos in an album, the past can be shared and not lost."

According to Van, finding and using the right products and tools is imperative for creating a memory book that will last for generations. For starters, Van offers the following guidelines :
• Use only photo-safe, archival quality materials which includes the albums, papers, page protectors, adhesives, ink and embellishments
• Preserve newspaper clippings and other memorabilia with archival quality products
• Store albums upright in a dry, dark place

Pictures and memorabilia represent a familys visual history. Properly preserved they will provide a tangible and graphic connection with past and future generations.

Heritage Creations offers free consultations for those who wish to preserve their memories for generations. For more information, please call 949-370-9865 or visit www.heritagecreations4you.com.
