PHILIPS MEDICAL SYSTEMS AUTHORIZES MARKETECH TO DISTRIBUTE ITS HEARTSTART", PORTABLE AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS IN THE STATES OF FLORIDA , NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY, CALIFORNIA AND COLORADO
DELRAY BEACH, FL--SEPTEMBER 28, 2003-MarkeTech today announced it has been authorized by PHILIPS MEDICAL SYSTEMS to distribute its portable Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs), marketed under the HEARTSTART name. MarkeTech will market the HEARTSTART line of AEDs to nursing facilities, businesses, medical offices, schools, malls and numerous other locations, where the public congregates, as well as directly to consumers. Philips Medical Systems, is one of the worlds largest medical device manufacturers and is part of the Royal Philips Electronics Company, one of the worlds biggest electronics companies, headquartered in the Netherlands.
AEDs have recently received front page news in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, TV and numerous other media sources. The American Heart Association, along with numerous other organizations highly recommend AEDs for households, businesses, public venues, long with promoting community awareness programs. The American Heart Association estimates that, 40,000 lives could be saved annually, though the use of AEDs, out of the 250,000 people who die from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) every year. More people die from SCA than from breast cancer, prostate cancer, AIDS, house fires, handguns and traffic accidents combined. AEDs are the only device that can deliver lifesaving shock to someone in cardiac arrest.
For every minute that goes by, a victims chance of survival decreases by 7-10%, without defibrillation. After 10 minutes, it is unlikely that the person will survive. On average it takes at least 6 minutes for emergency help to arrive on the scene. And this does not include the time from collapse to call, as well as other potential delays. There is no age limit to SCA. It can strike young children, athletes, middle age and the elderly. In fact, most SCA victims have never shown any prior symptoms of heart disease. The American Heart Association publication Circulation", says that AEDs are safe to administer to children, as young as 1. The HEARTSTART AED, by Philips Medical systems is designed to help save these very young victims.
The HEARTSTART AED is smaller than a laptop computer, weighing a little over 3 lbs, is portable and is so sophisticated that it can analyze if a shock should be given and when, providing voice prompts, and reminding the user to call 911 and even providing CPR instructions. The HEARTSTART is extremely user-friendly and easy to use, with only a few simple buttons to press, all directed by voice commands.
MarkeTech, is a medical device sales and marketing company, which plans to educate and promote this lifesaving device to the public and businesses on the necessity of having AEDs placed in homes, as well as in strategic locations, where workers and the public congregate. MarkeTech also intends to deploy this lifesaving device in medical offices, clinics, nursing homes, movie theaters, health clubs and schools.
