(PRWEB) October 13, 2003 --The Mountain Collegiate Baseball League (MCBL") is being formed as a summer collegiate baseball league for play beginning in 2005. The MCBL will be comprised of six teams in the Colorado -- Wyoming area.
Each team will feature top collegiate baseball players from around the country. Teams will be operated like a Minor League Baseball team, providing players an opportunity to play under professional conditions: using wooden bats and playing before numerous fans in quality facilities, all in the beautiful Rocky Mountain region!
The MCBL will start its six-team season in early June 2005. Each team will play an eight-week, 40-game schedule with eight games against each team (four at home, four on the road).
The MCBL All-Star Game will be played in late-July, and the League Championship will be determined by a playoff in early August. A round of play-offs (first place versus fourth place and second place versus third place, with the first and second place teams having home field advantage) will each be a best-of-three series. The Leagues championship series will also be a best-of-three series, and the team with the best regular season record will receive home field advantage.
All cities in the MCBL will be within close proximity to each other; one-way road trips will range from 20 to approximately 150 miles. Therefore, players will have no long road trips and few (if any) over-night stays. Candidate cities include: Fort Collins, Greeley, Boulder, and Golden in Colorado, and Laramie and Cheyenne in Wyoming.
