INKNOISE BRINGS BLOGGING TO EVERYDAY USERS Hosted personal Web publishing service integrates multimedia, enables quality design

Today InkNoise, a provider of personal Web publishing services, announced availability of a unique hosted service that enables any user, technical and non-technical alike, to become personal Web publishers and create robust personal Web sites and blogs featuring a variety of easily created multimedia elements.

BOULDER, CO (PRWEB) October 13, 2003 --- Weblogs, or blogs," have become one of the hottest online activities over the last year. Even Doonesbury" has looked at blogging and a number of political candidates have used blogs to reach younger voters. Combining text, photography, video, audio and Flash animation, these online journals can chronicle everything from a newborn child to ones opinions of the local football team. Until now, it has been difficult for someone to create a multimedia blog unless they had advanced knowledge of HTML and Web design software due to the complexity in designing the site and adding multimedia elements.

Today InkNoise, a provider of personal Web publishing services, announced availability of a unique hosted service that enables any user, technical and non-technical alike, to become personal Web publishers and create robust personal Web sites and blogs featuring a variety of easily created multimedia elements.

Our goal is to make InkNoise the preferred personal publishing platform on the Web," said Justin Souter, chief executive officer of InkNoise. Adding greater capabilities to what people can do with Web publishing is a key element of our plan, as is moving the blogging phenomenon into the mainstream by improving ease-of-use, extending capabilities, focusing on quality and design, and targeting market segments with a real need for the service."

InkNoise was built to make personal Web publishing available to those with relatively little technical skill and those for whom hiring Web design and programming professionals is cost prohibitive.

Before InkNoise, you had to know the proper HTML markup to put in your Weblog post in order to get audio or video to play, and you had to pay someone else to host the media files and know how to upload them with FTP," said Kevin Tatroe, chief technology officer at InkNoise. We handle all that automatically for our publishers."

InkNoise is a hosted service, which means all the work is done online and theres no software to purchase or install. Customers can try the service for 30 days at no charge, and then chose between two plans, which start at $6.70 per month. The Full Strength" plan serves the needs of advanced Webloggers, online journallers, and designers wanting complete design control. In addition to increased capacities, the Full Strength plan allows multiple authors, role-based permissions, and Weblog syndication. The Original" plan is for those who want to publish fewer Weblogs and galleries, but would still benefit from multimedia posts, page statistics, domain mapping, and the variety of publishing tools offered.

Our goal is to give non-Web savvy publishers the tools to publish nicely designed Websites and personal experiences," said Mike Slone, chief creative officer of InkNoise. We've also made it so that experienced designers can use InkNoise to create an infinite variety of sites. This is all done in a Web standards-compliant way with our technology."

In addition to multimedia capabilities, InkNoise also is offering a variety of pre-designed theme" templates for non-technical users that can aid in the blog creation process. For example, there will be templates for those expecting a new baby and who want to create a blog for friends and family to check on the little ones progress, and others that are for sports fans, travel journal writers, even one for skateboarders. Additionally, InkNoise users can create online galleries where photos and other images can be uploaded, and then linked to the users blog.
