Ashwaubenon Public Safety Officers Arrest
High School Student for Weapon Possession
Ashwaubenon High School Student arrested for possession of pellet pistol in school.
(Ashwaubenon, WI October 8, 2003) Shortly after school dismissal at about 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, an Ashwaubenon High School student found the Schools Liaison Officer to report another student in possession of a handgun. The Officer immediately notified School Officials and Officers at Public Safety headquarters. An intensive search started with Officers and School Officials checking the 16 year-old students home, neighborhood streets, and businesses for the suspect. Regular telephone calls were made to the students home and he was found there a short while later.
Uniformed Public Safety Officers accompanied the Liaison Officer who spoke to the suspect and turned the gun over to them. The gun was a pellet gun that looked like a 9-millimeter semi-automatic handgun.
The suspect brought the gun to school possibly to get an upper hand in an argument with another student. Public Safety Department Officials recommended charges to the District Attorneys Office of a Facsimile Weapon and Dangerous Weapon on School Grounds. A more serious situation was avoided through the effort of the student witness who came forward to report this weapon.
