New Online Support Network for Women in Agriculture

AgriWoman.com is an international online support network for women involved in agriculture, agribusiness and rural enterprise

(PRWEB) October 14, 2003 --AgriWoman.com opens its doors and arms to women in the business of agriculture and agri-business. Christine Calnin, freelance writer, Wisconsin dairy farmer and web developer has created this online support network for women in agriculture and agri-business.

AgriWoman.com welcomes women from around the world and Calnin's goal is to become the largest women's ag network of its kind.

The website promises current news in ag trends, but more so, it is a place for women involved in agriculture to network and interact with others in their field. From work-at-home moms to Ag students, the site has something for everyone.

"We are hard at work on a comprehensive business directory of AgriWomen and encourage them to do business with each other," says Calnin. AgriWoman.com helps women involved in rural enterprise to network with each other - from their businesses to companionship and even travel."

AgriWomen Traveling hopes to bring women around the world together and encourages visiting other AgriWomen either locally or world wide. Women can travel to visit or even assist those in need with projects.

While the original site was dubbed "The Farm and Ranch Woman's Network", Calnin knew that there were so many facets to agriculture, that the site
must include women in every area of agriculture and agri-business.

AgriWoman.com also has a variety of message boards that can be used to get and give advice as well as to make friends.

"We have message boards that address everything from genetics to calving and more," says an enthusiastic Calnin. "Speak Out! Should be a favorite with agriwomen - a place to voice their thoughts and opinions."

The network is also involved with BisonRidge Ranch Retreat Center (www.brrretreat.com) in south central Wisconsin and will be hosting a
variety of retreats; both ag related as well as other interesting retreats, workshops and seminars from farm wife getaways to mystic faires and couples retreats. To foster the AgriWomen Traveling program, Calnin has also enlisted the help of travel expert Gwen Morrison of InetVacation.com.

While there are a few other Ag sites dedicated to women, Calnin feels that AgriWoman.com will be not only a sounding board, but a safe haven. "Women involved in rural enterprise are often misunderstood, stereotyped and even isolated so we are gathering resources to assist women with everything from to domestic violence issues to starting a home based business to supplement their incomes."

Calnin also stresses that AgriWoman.com is a free site and there is no charge to be involved in any way. Even classified advertising where women can buy, sell or barter items or services is free of charge.
